| Bridge
for the Front Teeth |

Bridges
may be used to replace missing front or back teeth and they are usually not removeable. Bridges usually work well if there are stable
teeth on either side of the missing tooth. Generally
two teeth are prepared for crowns, then a dental technician can
fabricate a bridge with the missing tooth attached to the two
crowns. This is all made in one piece to look like three separate
teeth. This is called a three unit bridge.
Other
bridge designs include adhesive bridges with minimal tooth preparation and others may involve more than one missing tooth. Sometimes a bridge is only connected to a single tooth and this is usually called a
cantilever bridge.
In
some cases an implant or a denture may be considered as alternative options and your Enhance
Dental dentist will help you decide which option will best suite
your needs by explaining all the details of each option in relation
to your particular circumstance.
After a consultation appointment and depending
on the complexity of the situation it can take a minimum of 90
minutes or more in the dental chair to prepare the teeth for a bridge. An
impression (mould) is taken of the prepared teeth and sent to
a Dental Technician.
Usually two
weeks later the dentist takes around 40 to 60 minutes to cement in the
bridge permanently. Your new bridge may last 15 years or more as long as the
supporting teeth stay healthy.
