FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q1 What are Porcelain Veneers ?

A. It is a thin layer of porcelain that is securely bonded onto the enamel surface of your tooth. Super-strong porcelain veneers are much thinner than porcelain crowns and require much less removal of tooth enamel.
Enhance Dental can perform a full dental makeover usually in only two visits after your consultation and costs much less than the fees we charge for porcelain crowns! ^

Q3 What is the Porcelain Veneer procedure?

A. Enhance Dental will firstly determine what concerns you have and create a treatment plan that best suits your needs to help improve stained, discoloured, miss-shaped, crooked or the size of your teeth. Often diagnostic models and photos are then taken and these are used to create the veneers on a model of your teeth for you to asses before treatment commences. This step give you the confidence and ability to see what Enhance Dental can acheive for you without any obligation.

After preparing your teeth and taking impressions, temporary resin veneers are placed on your teeth that are designed to look like the final result. This step allows you to see first hand what can be acheived and allows us to fine tune the look of your porcelain veneers. After three weeks the temporary resin veneers are removed and the porcelain veneers are tried on for you to see and ensure you are happy with the results.
The porcelain veneers are then permanently bonded to your teeth. ^

Q4 How long are Porcelan Veneers expected to last?
Are they safe and what are they made of?

A. Many people who received porcelain veneers 15 to 20 years ago are still enjoying them today. Porcelain veneers are made of time-tested, high-quality pure porcelain. Porcelain is considered to be very safe.
Enhance Dental has been successfully doing porcelain porcelain veneers for over 23 years. ^

Q5 What is the cost of Porcelain Veneers?

A. Custom designed Porcelain Veneers are considerably less than the cost of porcelain crowns. Since every situation is different we cannot give quotations over the phone or by email. A consultation appointment with one of our friendly and understanding Enhance Dental dentists is your first step. A fully itemised, no obligation quotation will be available.

Please contact Enhance Dental 7.30 am onwards Monday to Friday
on (03)9533-8488.^

Q6 I have heard about other types of veneers. Why should I consider Porcelain Veneers?

A. Porcelain Veneers are one of the most natural and durable types of veneers available.
They have stood the test of time in terms of strength, durability and aesthetics and have been used for decades.
This is why this is the only Porcelain Veneer system avaiable that we can guarantee for 5 years.
Resin veneers may chip or stain and often don't last as long as Porcelain Veneers. I have found that Resin veneers usually do not look as realistic or as natural as Porcelain Veneers.
Multiple placement veneers often do not look as natural, may not last as long or be be able to correct slightly crooked teeth as well as Porcelain Veneers. ^

Q7 How many dental visits are necessary to complete the Porcelain Veneer procedure?

A. After a consultation, only two more dental visits at Enhance Dental are usually required. These visits are normally three weeks apart.^

Q8 After my appointment for the Porcelain Veneer procedure, how long do I have to wait before I come back for my final appointment to have my Porcelain Veneers put on?

A. Usually 3 weeks. During this time temporary resin veneers are often worn. These resin veneers are well made so you won't need to hide your smile. ^

Q9 Should I have a check up and clean before having Porcelain Veneers?

A. If your teeth have not been cleaned within six months you should have a professional cleaning. A general 'check up' should also be done as part of your routine dental care. ^

Q10 With Porcelain veneers can I use my favourite toothpaste? Can I still floss my teeth?

A. Yes, you will simply brush and floss your Porcelain Veneers just as you would your natural teeth. Proper dental hygiene is essential to maintaining your Porcelain Veneers. ^

Q11 My teeth have had work already done to them such as small fillings. Can I still have Porcelain Veneers?

A. Since Porcelain Veneers may be able to bond to small intact resin fillings you may already have, you could still be suitable for Porcelain veneers. Enhance Dental will confirm this with you before you proceed with the procedure. ^

Q12 Can I eat foods like nuts, corn on the cob and apples with Porcelain Veneers?

A. Yes! However, as with natural teeth care should be taken if you bite into very hard or sticky foods. ^

Q13 I would like to close gaps between teeth, can Porcelain Veneers work for me?

A. Yes, a “gap” is called a diastema, and can be successfully and permanently closed with Porcelain Veneers as long as the gaps are not wider than 3mm. Alternatively you may prefer to reduce the size of your gaps. Braces or Invisalign (straight teeth-no braces) may be a suitable alternative. Some patients may prefer to have Braces or Invisalign before they have the Porcelain Veneer procedure. To find out more about Invisalign Click here. ^

Q14 I have tried whitening treatments but they don't whiten my teeth
as much as I would like or I find them difficult to maintain.
Can Porcelain Veneers be used to whiten teeth more predictably?

A. Often Porcelain Veneers can whiten most discoloured or patchy teeth that do not respond well to whitening. The veneers, being porcelain are resistant to external causes of discolouration. ^

Q15 My teeth are crooked, some even overlap but I prefer not to wear braces.
Am I a Porcelain Veneer candidate?

A. Porcelain Veneers can improve the shape, size and alignment of your teeth making them look straighter and more symmetrical. Since every Porcelain Veneer case is unique, your Enhance Dental dentist will assess your smile and provide you with treatment options specific to your individual needs. If your teeth are very crooked then Braces or Invisalign (straight teeth - no braces) may be a suitable alternative. Braces or invisalign may also be done before you have Porcelain Veneers.
To find out more about Invisalign Click here. ^

Q16 I play contact sports, what happens if I chip a Porcelain Veneer?

A. If a replacement Porcelain Veneer is needed at a later date it can be induvidually replaced to match with the other existing Porcelain Veneers or natural teeth.
As a preventative measure, Just like natural teeth, a mouth guard should be worn over Porcelain Veneers when playing contact sports. ^

Q17 If for some reason, I wanted to remove a Porcelain Veneer, is that possible?

A. Yes, Porcelain Veneers can be removed and replaced. ^

Q18 Do Porcelain Veneers have any guarantees?

A. Yes! Your Porcelain Veneers are guaranteed for 5 years!
There are some conditions. Click here to find out more. ^

Q19 How can I be sure that Porcelain Veneers are the right procedure for me?

A. As with any dental procedure you want to be sure it is the right solution for you. Enhance Dental will inform and explain all your dental options, fees procedures, advantages and disadvantages before you make your final decision. ^
