Your Enhance Dental dentist begins by taking dental impressions, X-rays and photographs of your teeth and sending them to Align Technology. The impressions are put through a CT scan from which a computer creates a three-dimensional model as prescribed by your Enhance Dental dentist. Custom software as shown simulates the movement of the teeth in stages. The dentist reviews the simulation online using Align Technology's ClinCheck software and with your consent approves the treatment. Once approved, a plastic resin aligner is manufactured for each stage of the computer simulation. Q4) WHO IS SUITABLE FOR INVISALIGN TREATMENT ?

Enhance Dental can use Invisalign to treat a vast majority of patients. Adults, adolescents and teenagers may be suitable. It works for a wide range of people whose teeth are too crowded or have spaces between them, as well as for those whose teeth may have shifted after having worn braces in their youth. Invisalign can also be combined with other dental treatments.


Q5) HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK ?

Invisalign® uses 3-D computer imaging technology to show you the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position before treatment even starts. As soon as you are happy with the computer simulation, a series of custom-made "Aligners" are produced. Each "Aligner" moves teeth incrementally and is usually worn for two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved. The computer simulation can also be used to estimate how long your treatment will take. In both clinical research and in dental practices throughout the world, Invisalign has been proven effective at straightening teeth.


Q6) HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN TAKE TO COMPLETE TREATMENT ?

Typically the treatment duration is similar to braces. An average time frame is 12 to 18 months.
During Treatment Enhance Dental will schedule regular appointments - usually about once every eight weeks.
This way you can be sure the Invisalign treatment is progressing as planned.


Q7) DO TEETH NEED TO BE REMOVED IF I AM HAVING INVISALIGN TREATMENT ?

With Invisalign, by using the computerised treatment software, often teeth are not removed.
Generally teeth are not removed when you have invisalign treatment if your teeth are mildly crowded.
No removal of teeth often means much less discomfort, reduced costs, quicker treatment and a fuller smile.


Q8) IS INVISALIGN TREATMENT PAINFUL ?

Most people experience temporary, minor discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It is a sign that Invisalign® is working sequentially moving your teeth to their final destination. This discomfort typically goes away a couple of days after you insert a new Aligner in the series.


Q9) WILL INVISALIGN AFFECT MY SPEECH ?

Like all orthodontic treatments, Aligners may temporarily affect the speech of some people, and you may have a slight lisp. However, as your tongue gets used to having Aligners in your mouth, any lisp or minor speech impediment caused by the Aligners should disappear. Aligners should be worn all day, except when eating, brushing and flossing. About 22 hours of wear per day.


Q10) WILL INVISALIGN AFFECT THE TYPES OF FOOD I CAN EAT ?

Unlike traditional wires & brackets, you can eat a wide variety of foods while having Invisalign treatment because you remove your Invisalign aligners to eat and drink. However, a diet that is high in sugars and involves frequent snacks should be avoided.
Also, it is important that you brush your teeth after each meal and prior to re-inserting your Invisalign aligners to maintain proper oral hygiene.


Q11) WILL MY TEETH REMAIN STRAIGHT AFTER INVISALIGN TREATMENT IS COMPLETED ?

In order to prevent your teeth moving after treatment is completed it is recommended that you wear retainers. After Invisalign treatment is completed most patients wear clear plastic retainers at night. Often the retainer is made by Invisalign® and is called 'Vivera' retainers. Removable retainers are worn while sleeping.

Q12) I HAD BRACES PREVIOUSLY, MY TEETH HAVE MOVED, CAN I HAVE INVISALIGN ?

If you have had braces in the past and have not been wearing retainers your teeth may have moved or relapsed. We have successfully treated many patients that have been in this situation using Invisalign treatment as an alternative to wearing braces again.


Q13) WHAT IS THE COST OF INVISALIGN ?

As with other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost of Invisalign® is heavily dependent on the complexity of a patient's case.The cost of Invisalign varies depending on the number of Invisalign aligners required in the computer treatment plan and the length of time treatment takes. FREE TEETH WHITENING valued at $490 and cosmetic reshaping is included at no extra charge. Cosmetic reshaping may be possible if, for example, your canine teeth are too pointy. Various payment plans are available ranging from 12 months interest free or you can spread the costs over 2 to 4 years.


Q14) WILL DENTAL INSURANCE COVER ANY OF THE COSTS OF MY INVISALIGN TREATMENT ?

Yes, providing you have orthodontic coverage, Invisalign® should also be covered. A percentage of this fee is claimable through our HICAPS terminal on the spot if you have major dental cover with almost all health insurance companies.
